Spring Has Sprung Blog Hop | SDS-SVGAttic

Welcome to the SVG Attic-SnapDragon Snippets Spring Has Sprung blog hop and to my blog!
We are so excited to have you join us today!

At each stop of the hop we hope you have been inspired by the creativity of the design teams of SVG Attic and Snapdragon Snippets.

You should be arriving from the busy talented Rhonda's blog. If you happened across this post out of order, please head to the SVG Attic blog to start at the beginning of the hop.

I have created two layouts for this hop.  First up is this layout with a background I created using watercolors.
You have to trust me that the colors look much better in person, more subtle.
On this layout I used the "Dyeing to have some fun", "eggs and brush" files.

And it does not look this wrinkled in person either.  Something about the sun and my camera made it look... mhhh too much light?  Anyway, I really really like it!

I added gold thread behind the picture and stitched some messy stitches on the bottom left of the layout, and added a bunny and ducky paperclips.

I forgot to ink or add shading to my "dyeing to have some fun" sign and I was not liking it, so I added shading with a Prismacolor pencil and I liked it better.  I used colored vellum on the dye container as my layer and behind the picture.  I inked the brush with alcohol markers.

For my second layout I used a file that I have been wanting or meaning to use for a while now.  The "On the hunt" is such file.  I like it so much that I pretty much used the colors that you see on the store's ad.

The layout.
For this layout I got a bit more creative and ambitious.  I decided to do the weaving right on the layout instead of on a separate panel. Love it! and it was really not that hard.

A closer look at the weaving.

A closer look at the dimension.  I added 3D foam adhesive to this photo and some of the flowers.

Snapdragon Snippets files used:
Dying to have some fun layout
file # 56523 egg painting
file file # 26169 'dyeing...fun' phrase
On the hunt layout
file # 26168 'on the hunt' phrase
file # 56520 flowers
file # 56521 grass & border
file = weaving
I also cut additional eggs from the sign layers in white and colored them with alcohol markers.

PTI February 2015 Blog Hop Challenge

I am sharing a card I created that inspired the card I entered on the Make it Monday challenge over at Nichole Heady|PTI blog.

How can that be? you might ask.  Well PTI has been sharing the challenge for their upcoming blog hop challenge which is usually on the 25th of the month. They post the inspiration picture and details for the hop challenge right after their release on the 15th of each month.  The 15th this month happened to fall on a Sunday so I was able to see the inspiration picture for the hop challenge and the Make It Monday challenge both on Monday.

This time (or the first time since the Make It Monday card came after :) )  I used the template I created with the Quatrefoil die and white embossing paste.  I had to think a bit to see how I would proceed and then it came quickly as soon as I saw my Dyan Reaveley ink sprays in London blue and crushed grape.
I added gold shimmer with Inka-Gold beeswax and some gold ribbon and the word die cut using glitter gold paper.

Supplies Used:
PTI Cover Plate: Quatrefoil Die
PTI Wet Paint Cuts die
PTI Stamper's Select white
Dreamweaver embossing paste
Inka-Gold beeswax
Dyan Reavely ink sprays

Make It Monday #201: Cover Plate Stencils and Embossing Paste

I created this card to enter the
Make It Monday #201: Cover Plate Stencils and Embossing Paste
challenge over at Nichole Heady|PTI a few days ago and I almost forgot to post it.

I chose the Cover Plate: Quatrefoil die

My first attempt at creating the template did not work because I was trying to recycle a piece of acetate that was a bit thick and I only passed it once through my Big Shot.  Second try I used a much thinner material and I did pass it through my Big Shot a couple of times.

Supplies Used:
PTI Baker's Dozen die
PTI Baker's Dozen Stamp Set
PTI Cover Plate: Quatrefoil die
PTI Wet Paint Cuts die
PTI Paper in Terracota Tile & Aqua Mist
Dreamweaver embossing paste
Acetate sheets from my local Michael's

Challenging myself | Dilo

Today I am sharing a card that I will be entering into my comadrita's Dilo En Español February challenge emphasis on challenge because I challenged myself to create a card in a style totally out of my element or style.

Here a closer look at the card I created in a style I call "Magnolia" style.  I wanted to create something using TH re-inkers and this is my first attempt.  I am also using modeling paste (the hearts in the background), gesso, cheese cloth, dew drops and lots more! lol
In addition to coloring the image with TH distress re-inkers I colored the flowers and the ribbon to match but I don't think the ribbon matches very well or as good as the flowers.

And here I continued to add more! LOL
Oh yeah, where you see big globs of gesso is because I am covering chunks of distress glitter that I did not like at all! LOL
Note: my photos were taken with an iPad and look to be of much higher quality on the iPad then here... I believe I lost lots of resolution because I used Blogsy (an apple app) to create this post.

Things I wanted to continue adding, but finally decided to stop!

Well, I hope I get lots of credit for trying!
On a serious note, you can go enter HERE with anything love themed and if you use this particular image well, Abby would love it too since her team is highlighting this image this month.
